It is with deep regret that we post this message to notify the residents of Barrie that our program will be officially folding at the end of 2011.  It is extremely important that we receive ALL signs currently in circulation due to the sensitive nature of our program.  PLEASE RETURN YOUR SIGN TO BARRIE POLICE SERVICES @ 60 BELL FARM ROAD ASAP.  Hours of operation are M-F: 8am-4pm.

Three years ago our program was in a dismal state & on the brink of folding but after much hard work by several dedicated volunteers the program received new life.  Since then we have been back out in the community at many local events.  We have handed out many application forms to interested people, however very few have been submitted for criminal background checks & sign approval.  

We have worked extremely hard to be welcomed back into the local school systems.  We have received approval from both Public & Catholic Boards to contact schools so we can educate our youth about the program, but without constant cooperation from local school administration our hands are tied with how much exposure our children get to the program.

After sending out our Block Parent sign renewal update packages earlier this summer we have had many Block Parents decide that they will not be renewing their sign stickers, thus end their active BP status with us at the end of this year.   We also continue to lose Board members & have had tried very hard to recruit new members to fill those positions without much success.  Our current Chair & Vice Chair positions have also become vacant due to increased family & work commitments & our Board simply can not function without these positions being filled.  

We have discussed several options & none of us want the program to fold, however without any current Board members able to step up & fill these positions, & what seems to be dwindling community support, we are not able to continue.  

If we do not receive your sign by November 15, our Police Liaison will be collecting your sign.  We want to thank each & every Block Parent we have for your continued support.  We truly appreciate your efforts.  If you have any further questions please feel free to contact us via email.
